Company Description

ConstructionClock is one of Manitoba's fastest growing tech companies, building the world's best time-tracking app for construction crews and un-desked teams. Our mission is to automate complicated tasks for the hardest working people in the world.

The Role

We're hiring a Manual QA Specialist to join our engineering team and help us ensure product quality and user satisfaction as we continue to grow. You'll play a key, hands-on role in safeguarding the experience our customers rely on every day — testing our web and mobile apps end-to-end, catching issues before they reach the field, and helping the team release with confidence.

This role is ideal for someone who takes extreme ownership of product quality, has a sharp eye for detail, and thrives in a fast-moving environment where they can shape testing processes — not just execute against them.

This is a term, in-office role based in Winnipeg, MB, with flexibility for some remote work.

What You'll Be Doing

Hands-on testing:

  • Manual & Exploratory Testing: Perform thorough manual, exploratory, and regression testing on our web and mobile (iOS & Android) applications to identify issues before they reach our users.
  • Release Confidence: Perform end-to-end regression and integration testing to ensure stability prior to releases.
  • Test Planning: Develop and execute comprehensive test plans, test cases, and use cases that ensure full coverage of new features and existing functionality.

Defect management & feedback:

  • Defect Management: Identify, document, and track defects in detail, providing clear steps to reproduce and constructive feedback to the development team.

Cross-functional partnership:

  • Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, developers, and designers to understand requirements, define acceptance criteria, and advocate for quality earlier in the development cycle.

Process & quality voice:

  • Process Improvement: Contribute to improving our QA strategy, testing processes, and documentation best practices.
  • Future Automation: Assist in identifying areas where automation could be beneficial and, if skilled, contribute to basic automated test scripts.

What We're Looking For

Experience:

  • 3–5 years of professional QA experience (web and mobile), with a track record of shipping reliable software in a product environment.

Core craft:

  • Manual Testing Fluency: Strong experience with manual testing methodologies (functional, regression, smoke, and exploratory testing).
  • Mobile Testing: Experience testing native mobile applications (iOS & Android) and understanding mobile-specific constraints (location services, connectivity issues, battery usage).
  • Test Planning & Documentation: Ability to write clear, concise, and comprehensive test plans and test cases.
  • High attention to detail across functionality, UX, and pixel-perfect design execution.

Tools and workflows:

  • Bug Tracking & Project Management: Proficiency with bug tracking and project management tools (e.g., Jira).
  • Version Control Awareness: Comfortable navigating version control workflows (Git) at a basic level.

Collaboration:

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to dig into ambiguous issues and isolate root causes.
  • Excellent communication skills to articulate bugs and risks to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment and managing priorities across parallel workstreams.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Automation Experience: Familiarity with or interest in learning automation frameworks (Selenium, Appium, Cypress, or Playwright).
  • API Testing: Experience testing APIs using tools like Postman or REST Assured.
  • Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with SQL for database validation or reading application logs (e.g., Datadog, Sentry) to help debug issues.
  • CI/CD: Basic understanding of CI/CD pipelines and how QA fits into them.
  • Domain experience: Familiarity with construction, trades, payroll, or other field-software domains.
