Position: Accounting Manager
Job Type: Full-time, on-site (Hybrid/Remote options will be considered)
Location: Cincinnati, OH or Boston, MA
Position Summary
As the Accounting Manager at Carefeed, you will play a pivotal role in managing our financial operations and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. Reporting to the VP of Finance, you will own the day-to-day accounting function and work closely with others on the finance & operations team as well as other departments to maintain accurate financial records, analyze & report data, and contribute to strategic decision-making processes. This position offers a unique opportunity to join a startup in scale up mode and have a big impact on financial operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts
receivable, general ledger entries, and payroll processing.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP
principles.
- Manage the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate
reporting.
- Perform variance analysis and provide insights to management on financial
performance.
- Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure
compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Lead the annual audit with the company’s first external auditor.
- Oversee sales tax compliance and annual filing of federal and state income tax returns.
- Drive process improvements and efficiency initiatives within the finance function.
- Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes to support strategic planning efforts.
- Stay updated on accounting regulations and industry best practices to ensure
compliance and mitigate risks.
- Assist in FP&A projects and reporting of financial and SaaS KPIs
- Support cross-functional teams on ad hoc projects and initiatives as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with ideally some managerial
experience.
- Experience working in a technology startup environment is highly desirable. SaaS
experience required.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP and proficiency in financial reporting.
- Expert in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite) and proficient with Microsoft
Excel/Google Sheets.
- Experience implementing financial systems (AR/AP tools or an ERP) to improve finance
& accounting operations.
- Experience with SaaS subscription management/AR software.
- Demonstrated experience managing an audit process, including interaction with
external auditors.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and make informed
recommendations.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and integrity in financial reporting.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across
departments and levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Self-starter who enjoys working in a fast-paced, collaborative, and innovative high-
growth environment.
- Work Authorization: Eligibility to work in the U.S. is required.
